Mastery-based math practice, built for one family at a time.
MathLoom teaches math the way the subject is actually shaped: as a
dependency graph. A learner does not move on because a unit ended. They
move on because the thing underneath is genuinely known.
Status: in development. MathLoom is not open for signups yet.
This page exists so the domain has something honest on it while the app
is built.
What it does
A curriculum of 400+ nodes with hard prerequisite edges — a
lesson stays locked until the skills it stands on are mastered.
Problems are generated, not drawn from a bank: each one comes
deterministically from a template and a seed, so practice never runs
out and every past problem can be reproduced exactly.
Answers are checked by a computer algebra system, so equivalent forms
are graded as equivalent rather than marked wrong for formatting.
A durable record per learner — every attempt, what is mastered,
what is due for review — that follows the person across courses rather
than resetting each year.
Email, and why we send it
MathLoom sends a small amount of mail, all of it triggered by something
the account holder did:
Address verification when a parent creates an account. Nothing
else is ever sent to an address until that link is clicked.
Password resets, on request.
Progress reports, weekly or monthly, which a parent chooses and
can turn off from any report with one click.
Accounts are created by a parent or guardian, who supplies and confirms
their own address. We do not buy, rent, or import address lists, and we
send no marketing mail. A learner never has an email address in MathLoom
at all.
About the data
MathLoom is built for children, so it collects as little as it can: a
parent's email, a learner's first name, and the learning record itself.
No advertising identifiers, no analytics trackers, no location, and
nothing sold or shared with data brokers. Each family's records are
isolated at the database level, and a parent can see or permanently
erase everything at any time.
